Hello,

I would like to share with you my experience with webhost4life hosting provider (which is a gold sponsor for DNN, see http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Partners/Sponsors/CurrentSponsors/tabid/782/Default.aspx - Sponsor are organizations of the DotNetNuke open source project and have provided assistance either financially or through donation of goods and services). On DNN website, webhost4life is presented as "being specialized in DotNetNuke Web Hosting, and now hosting over 100,000 web sites. We provide 24/7 toll-free phone support and a flexible control panel that can help you setup multiple DNN sites within seconds".

On my side, I am with webhost4life for 3 years. I had many problems at the very beginning while being in a basic plan (website was slow, lot of downtime, errors appear without any reason, etc...). They proposed to upgrade to a Virtual Private Server (VPS) which is much more expensive but should solve the problems. I accepted, and everything was solved (nevertheless, some discussions and intervention from manager was necessary, because right after the migration the fine tuning was far from being good). After this event, it runs just great. Just note that I have problems (downtime) every 3 months. But every 3 months, when I contact the support, it was always great and solved in few minutes/hours.

So, I can say in summary that after few problems at the very beginning, I have been very very satisfied for 3 years. Fast and reliable.

But since 1 month (34 days exactlly), I have submitted a new ticket for many problems on my two websites (nothing has been changed on my website excepted migration to latest 4.9.2 DNN). I encounter many many downtime problem and websites are so slow that it is impossible to work on it (even Google Analytics & Google webmaster tools is reporting problems) ...

I had an answer yesterday through chat: "WH4L is currently having very big problems with their server (global problem as I have been told). Virus scan is in progress. We had some issues with server, we migrate all websites to another server and we have been obliged to apply some microsoft patch which do not run successfully".

Today, it is still awfull (my website is still down - since 36 hours). I contacted support, and I do not have any answer, excepted through chat where I have been informed that the virus scan performed during 12 hours should have solved the problem. Unfortunately, it is still problematic, and they claim that they are doing their best.

I have submitted a new ticket to be migrated to a running server (some server are working, I have a friend of mine with a DNN website which is quite happy and have his website up and running). I am waiting the answer and solution to all my problems....

I was always happy with them, but since 33 days, I can say that it is just awfull. Why ?? I do not know... I will keep you informed, my story might interest some people.

For your information, it has been solved after ~38 hours of downtime. I asked for a migration to another server, it was accepted (after discussions) but then I suddenly had the server back to life...

I lost some performance, I am trying to discuss with them to improve it. That's the latest news....

So, here is the end of the story:

1/ they solved my problems
2/ they improved my DNN (it was very slow)
3/ they apologize
3/ they gave me a compensation

CONCLUSION: I am happy now...
;-)
Just one regret, they should have better communicate on the topic, they did not answer to my first request and I had to wait one day before having my first answer, which is unusual...
