I am trying desperately to export a few portals and create new ones from these templates on a fresh install.  I keep getting this error parsing template error when trying to create the portals.

There was one forum post on DNN that suggested it was a file manager sync issue and provided instruction to ensure the file manager and DB were in line with a recursive sync.  I have done this many times and tried to export without luck.  Any suggestions, to redo 3 portals from scratch is going to take some time!

Thanks

This thread should have what you need:

Thanks for the quick reply, I did try that patch, with no avail.  I am getting a different error  "cannot parse portal template"

Well I updated to 4.5.1 and then tried again and it did work this time.  Ok, so one last question.  If my portal is LARGE the export locks up and I am sure there is some 'timeout'  where would I change that?

You can't change the timeout in the UI.

You would have to change code in the application.
Are you able to change code and recompile if needed?

Ok, it turns out that you don't need to recompile.

If you replace the file at admin/portal/template.ascx.vb with the one attached it will set the timeout to max while exporting and back to normal when it is finished.

Well the 'error creating portal' error is back and I did this fix.  Any other suggestions using 4.5.1 updated from 4.4.1

I'm not sure what could be wrong. Can you give me any more details on the error?
Are there errors in the error log ( Admin > Event Viewer)

Nothing in the Event viewer at all for this.  Very frustrating that it works on what install and not another, and they are essentially identical.  The patch fixed one but not the other?  Oh well.

I do however see a lot of other errors all referencing the same file...This seems to be happening on many tabs

How about this?  Is there any way to manual with SQL Script to create these child portals that I need?
