Hi John,

I have several folders that are residing in my portal root directory at the default and 0 level.  They contain files such as resource files and webinfo files.  Every time I try to copy down my site from production to my dev machine, I get a copy error related to these files being in use or having read only permissions. I did a full backup of my site (I had to exclude the files from being copied -  a real pain) and restored the site on my dev machine and it came up with no seemingly ill effects.  As far as caching performance settings go, I have module caching set to memory under host settings and in my web.config I have .  Do all dnn installations create these files and cause copying problems?  Are they optional?  Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

Check in web.config to see if EnableCachePersistence is set to true, that is my best guess if you have module caching set to memory.

Ok...I keep forgetting about pasting code and the security features of the editor.  I pasted this <  add key="EnableCachePersistence" value="false"/  > in my earlier post but it got blanked out.

Hmmm, what are the dates on the cache files? Can you attach a few?

PageBlaster does cache files with a pb.webinfo extension, but what you described did not sound like PageBlaster.

to paste code, switch to source view in the editor and then wrap your code in < code > tags < /code >.

The webinfo files are being store under Portal/Default/Cache/TabId inside numbered subfolders.

The resource file is from the 0 directory under cache. This is not the folder causing the copying problem.  It is the webinfo files.

Tried attaching the files (28kb) but I got an error with the upload saying file sizes can't exceed 2048 kb's or invalid file type.

The ones under Cache/TabId sound like PageBlaster. They are cach dependency files. If you set the disk-cache-interval to 0 in the PageBlaster.config file then those won't be created.

You may just want to configure your backup/copy operation to avoid those folders.

For attachments, please put them in a zip file. .webinfo extensions can not be attached in this forum.

The pb.webinfo are PageBlaster.
The tab... resources is from disk caching in DNN, but it is really old so you may just want to delete it.

Thanks John...that's what I needed, just an understanding of where the files were coming from and what role they play.  I appreciate your time.
