Load-balanced servers: What would you do with $1000 USD / month

We are going to expand our operation, and this will be my first foray into load-balanced/distributed servers. Up till now it's been one server: Single 1.8ghz CPU 1.5 GB RAM 250 GB HD MS SQL 2005 DNN 4.3.5 The site is intended to become really heavy on file uploads - downloads. So, my idea is to get one server as dedicated file storage with 1 TB HD space, one server for the web app, and one for the MS SQL database. It's been a while since i've had to do serious server hardware shopping, what could some people recommend for such a setup in a managed hosting environment, if your monthly budget was around $1000 USD? We will most likely stay at www.theplanet.com, (ex-EV1 servers), just because our history with them has been fine, however packages from other companies would be fine too. I'd like to have RAID redundancy on the file server, other than that, just looking for maximum performance. Any tips would be super..!
