I'm very new to DotNetNuke, and having some major issues with the pages I'm working on.

My DotNetNuke page was working properly the other day (through localhost - it's a work in progress) but now whenever I try to modify modules or post on the forum or add comments to the blog etc I get an error whenever I hit the 'reply' or 'update' buttons. I'm using Internet Explorer, and get the error message in the bottom left corner. If I click on it I get the message:

WebForm_PostBackOptions is undefined

It must be a setting somewhere, because I was able to modify/post properly a few days ago. I found a post somewhere suggesting going into the IIS and making sure "Check that File Exists" is unchecked, so I made sure of that, but the issue is still there.

Please help - I'd really appreciate it!

This error usually happens because of http compression. Try commenting out the Compression module in the web.config file to see if it fixes it.

Ok I tried taking out these lines from web.config:

and it didn't help. Are there more lines to take out/modify?

I've discovered more about the issue:
Whenever I load a page that has an accept button (or add, etc) it already has an 'error on page' which reads:
Line: 941
Char: 39
Error: Expected ';'
Code: 0
URL: (whatever URL I'm at)

So now I'm wondering where I can find the code that needs the semicolon added - web.config isn't 941 lines so I don't know where to look.

I found a thread at http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/108/threadid/101803/threadpage/1/scope/posts/Default.aspx where you were helping people with similar issues, and tried the solutions they used, but my problem is I can never click "Update" in order to change compression settings or exclude files etc.

Now it sounds like you may be having a problem with a whitespace filter mangling your javascript. I can't tell from the post above what you took out from your web.config, but to comment out the compression module it should look like this:

<!-- < add name="Authentication" type="DotNetNuke.HttpModules.AuthenticationModule, DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Authentication" /       < add name="Compression" type="DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Compression.HttpModule, DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Compression" /> move this end comment to include  the compression module -->

The next thing I would check is the mapping of .axd files in IIS like that other thread pointed out.
Is this a public site? If so you could post a link and I may be able to tell more that way.

I checked and they map to .dll files. And the site isn't public yet - it's still just through localhost.

Is it mapped to the 2.0 version of the ASP.Net framework?

c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi.dll
