John,

Unless I overlooked it somewhere, it appears that you do not use the DNN core 'feedback' module?

After playing around with for awhile, I am starting to think that it's a little bloat ware, given the "moderation list" that stores all feedback in achieves and unable to be deleted without paying with the DB...could see this getting quite large over time.  Therefore, I was wondering if there is a 'business standard' type of feedback module people use who are less than pleased with the core module...

I also get a number of double entries, as the "Your message has been sent" displays at the bottom and often off the screen, given the location, so people click submit again, thereby exacerbating the aforementioned problem.  :)

Now that I think about it, perhaps Xmod or one of the other form modules?

I did purchase Dynamic Forms, so I guess I could whip up an easy feeback module and simply have it email the results, rather than pass to the db...but not sure if there is a better solution (reads: free 3rd party module) to save me the time.  :)

You're right. I stopped using the Feedback module several versions ago when it broke after an upgrade.

I would recommend the Data Dynamics - Dynamic Forms module which can easily create a form feedback and lots of other forms when you need them.

There I go again, confirming your suspicions about DotNetNuke just being a trap to get people to buy modules. :)

The Text/Html module is solid, though!  ...but I am considering Data Springs "Tailored Text" replacement, too.  :)

Thanks, John...will churn out my own, I guess.

One follow-up, if I may; when uninstalling core modules, does it also remove the tables from the db, or do people normally go in and remove the respective tables themselves? Between the forums, blog, and now the feedback module uninstalls, I suspect I have some house cleaning to do, if this is not the case.

Oops, that's right, it's Data Springs (not Data Dynamics).

When uninstalling it all depends on how the module developer packaged the uninstall script. Some modules won't drop the tables because they don't want you to loose the data if you just uninstall to reinstall. I can't tell you off the top of my head, but you can see what will hapen by looking in the module folder for the .uninstall script.

Ta da. :) I dropped in some custom messages and the auto-email...tried the "send copy" checkbox, but, well, not quite that dangerous with this stuff yet.  :)

Now I am thinking that I need a drop shadow box thingy to make it stand out.  Given that it's a 3rd party form module and not using the html module with code behind it, how would I go about adding a graphic box to the form area? Build a clear container and somehow get an image in there?

I have not dabbled with skinning whatsoever, but I really should start playing around, as I have a number of forms with which I would like to do something similar...sound like a plan, or is there an easier way to drop a picture in the same place as a module?

Okay, after looking into this all last night, it appears I can do gradients and drop shadows in CSS, so I could pull this off merely by applying CSS to the respective form module? I am assuming you can apply this to individual modules and won't override the CSS of all the other modules of the same ilk?  :)

XML fragments and poor reporting, no?

I went back and looked at Form Master and a post I made in the DNN forums a month or two ago; it was high on my list of modules to buy, but I think it was the no SQL that moved me purchase Dynamic Forms.  I love Dynamic forms, given all the settings and dynamic controls, the SQL features, etc, but I am struggling to get the data out, nothing no SQL :)

If I had to do it again, I think I would try XMod out and see just how steep the learning curve is.
