Hello,

I have a video in SWF format (Flash format), which is hosted on a remote server (not the same one than the DNN install).
I can embeded it into my webpage, but I do not have any control on it (no control player, play-rewind-fast forward...)

Do you know any good player control or module or whatever to be able to embeded this video into my website ?
It seems that UltraGallery (Bizmodules) does not support SWF.

Thanks for your help,
DV

Why not put the controls in in Flash? And why use swf video instead of flv? You could use an swf file with controls in it (maybe 25K) that gets the external flv video and does the progressive download from the server. If you set the buffering right in the video player properties in Flash, you could get load and play time for the video down to a second or two. This is how I do it. Of course, I also use swfobject to put it on the page.

Also, here's an article on the Seablick blog around the issue of Flash video in DNN.

Hello adoucette,

Thanks for your answer. I do not want to enter into details, but for a small file size (or duration), SWF is better (higher quality).
Now, concerning the question of modifying the swf, I forget to tell that this was not possible (many reasons).
That's why I am searching something out of the box, to display a Flash SWF movie from a remote server, without modifying the file.
Thanks for the article on seablick, I am a subscriber of the newsletter, and my question follows yesterday email... :-)

Here's a flash player module, but I don't know if it has the controls you are looking for.  http://www.inventua.com/dnn-flashplayer.content

No, it does not...
I am currently checking each module on snowcovered...

I did some other searching, but I think you are going to have a hard time finding one that has controls for SWF. FLV seems to be the way it is done for video.

If I am searching one for SWF, there is reason (my website is dedicated to video tutorials)
But I do not want to start a discussion on FLV versus SWF...
;-)
In summary, SWF is powerful for "light file" (not longer than 3 minutes, typically a tutorial). And the quality is much better. That's the reason. FLV is compressed, (loss of quality) and embedded in SWF (yes, it is complicated to understand all of this). SWF is the original format created by many software. Conclusion: I definitely need a SWF player... Otherwise, I have another alternative (but I would like to avoid making tricks to show video tutorials to people)

I understand. I'm not saying that FLV is better than SWF, just that I don't think it's going to be easy to find the controls in a player that you are looking for using that format. Then again, I am no expert on the matter.
