login fails on v3

When logging in on a page with a CSS Skin 3 skin, I get the following: Login Failed, remember that Passwords are case sensitive. I haven't looked at any of the code to see why this might be happening. This is pretty much a vanilla install of DNN3.1 TIA!

Further testing ... it is the host that is unable to login. If I login as the administrator, I can get access. BTW, I have the Blue Tab skin applied to the site (as opposed to a single page) as the default skin now.
