I am sorry but this is a sleep-deprived rant. With all of the wonderful technology and hard work that has gone into the DNN platform, the skinning engine, and I am sure into the skins product, why can't I change the freaking colors on my site? The main thing in my view that most uses want to change about their site is the main color of the site (i.e. the nav bars, and the top portion of the modules) and also the font of the site. Why do we have to be freaking developers to do this? I am developer and I have even developed my own modules for DNN and that almost is easier. I thought spending a little money instead of time would save me some trouble. It says it has a magic wand. The only problem is that it picks up all of the useles pieces of garbage around the site, but not the main thing that I want to change...THE MENUBAR!!!! I move it over the container heading....ALSO NOTHING.

Whycan't there just be a site setting for each of the main colors and fonts and throw the rest of the garbage away!

P.S. I know why and I know the flexibility especially for the graphic designers. I am tired and I am tired of looking at the stupid gradients on the DNN sample skins. I don't have great vision and they are hard to read.

Thanks for your feedback Richard.  You are right, and in the earlier days I had designed a page that let you do specifically what you are asking, but as DNN matured that became harder to do as everything is now set through CSS.

You might want to look into the menu designer for the SolPart Menu which can be found here: http://www.Solpart.com

The problem with the Magic Wand on the solpart menu is that the elements with the actual css are containers around the actual visible elements and therefore cannot be “seen” by the wand.

If you use the CSS Editor to change the menu color classes you should be able to see a difference that way fairly quick though.

Another way to make it real easy on yourself is to just choose a different skin that has a whole new look.  There are plenty of free ones around, or you can purchase the Snapsis CSS Skins pack if you like one of the skins found here http://demo.DotNetNukeSkins.com

Thank you for your graciousness. Part of the problem was that I assumed that I would be able to change those aspects before I bought and then I was upset when I couldn't. I should have checked out the demo site more before I bought. Also, after changing and saving a couple of classes I got the error Could not open skin and it reverted back to the dnn skin. I will make a better, more descriptive post tonight after work.

Once again thank you for your graciousness.

Richard
