Hi John,

It is getting crazier. The designer of the site which I am working on changed his mind: he wants image menu's instead of textmenu's (he doesn't like the websafe font). Of course there are different images for normal and hover. Do you see a way to do this in nav?

I was thinking along the line of page-icons with two states and some kind of background positioning? Another option would be transparent images with different background colors.

Do you have other thoughts?

Peter

You could do it with some image naming conventions an an onmouseover function.

Have a regular page icon image, then also upload one with _hover appended on the image name.

then use < img src="{Page.IconFile}" onmouseover="this.src=this.src+'_hover'" onmouseout="this.src=this.src.replace('_hover','')" />

You could also do it with background positioning, but i think that would complicate it.

We are using DotNetNuke 4.5.5 with Snapsis DNN.NavMenu 3.1.2. for a multilingual site. How can i display localized images on the menu i.e. the images on the menu should change with the change in the selected Language. I understand that by setting the icon for the tabs and referring to these in the template file used by the NAVMenu we can get the images to appear on the menu. But I'd like to know how to have these change with the language selection on the site.
Thanks in advance.

Hi John

Can you confirm that Navmenu supports:

1. A vertical top level, 'image only' menu
2. Top level support for the active or selected page in addition to the mouse over technique mentioned above.
2. Sub menu flyout using standard text/css and no images?

The only other option I've come across so far is the Rad menu - http://www.telerik.com/help/aspnet/menu/menu_imageonlymenu.html

Thanks
Adam

Yes, an Image menu can be done, but not in a way that allows an end user to add their own pages.  You need to basically customize a template and then use one of the tokens like TabName as part of the image src, then name your images the same as the Tabs.

If you use the included suckerfish template example and customized it you would then have a text/css sub-menu as well.
