hi,

I'm having an some odd problems with snapsis menus and apollo language functions.  I have a portal with Spanish and Catalan running on it.  Using the apollo pagelocalization module I set the menu text, page titles etc for each language.

Now all works fine if I am logged in (doesn't seem to be important if I am host or just a registered user) - when I switch locales, the menu titles change accordingly .  However as an anonymous user this does not work - the localization of other texts on the site work fine, but the menu does not change when I switch between locales.

Even odder, but less concerning.  Logged on as superuser, in Spanish I see the admin and host menus (I have a drop-down separate to the main menu that handles these), but switching to Catalan I only see the Admin menu - the host is not visible.

Given the fact that I've launched site and I'm just awaiting payment!! this is a bit of a blow.

I'm running on DNN4.8.0, Snapsis 3.1.2, Apollo PageLocalization 02.04.04 and MLLanguageSelector 02.03.00 - I have language Parameters in the URL enabled.

I do have another portal on the site that uses Solpart and that switches everthing quite happily.

Hi,

The most likely reason for the first issue is because the menu is caching, try setting CacheTabs="false" in the settings of the menu.

It doesn't cache when you are logged in, so that would explain why it switches ok then.

The other problem is most likely because you have set IncludeTabs to "Admin,Host", but if you switch languages there is no longer a Host menu since it is probably called something else in Catalan. If you add the different language names to your IncludeTabs then it should fix that.

I have a newer version that compares the IncludeTabs and ExcludeTabs to the tab path which always stay the same even if the language switches.  I can also look into adding the Language as part of the cache key for the first problem which I think I have already done also.

Reply directly to the notification from this post and attach your order number if you have it to get the newer version sent to you.

Thanks for the swift response John - I'm off to the sofa with a bottle wine, so no more testing tonight but I will have a look at your suggestions tomorrow.

Switching the caching off does solve the problem. I don't really expect users to be switching more than once a session (if that) so adding the language key would be great.
Your explanation for the missing host sounds about right - the titles admin & host are certainly not localized in the Spanish version. In the Catalan version they both are translated (well I think they are as I don't see the host menu) - the odd thing is that the admin does display although it's title in Catalan is Administració
