I installed and configured PageBlaster on our work instance of DNN.  It was okay the evening I installed it and seemed to be okay when I checked the pages from home the following morning.

When I arrived at work, loading any of the DNN sites on that box returned a bunch of garbled text (it looked like raw MIME output).

I commented out the PageBlaster line in the web.config and that resolved it (I believe, effectively disabling PageBlaster).

Can anyone offer any insight as to why this might be happening?

I can administer the server fully if needed.

Thanks!

Hi Mike,
That's one I haven't seen before. My only guess would be that some other type of browser or spider came along and caused the output to get cached like that.
Does the problem come back if you re-enable PageBlaster? If so, what happens if you do a hard refresh?

To make sure that different browsers are cached differently, check under Admin > PageBlaster in the Cache Settings page to see if the [PB:Request.Browser.Browser] token is in the Additional Cache Key Parameters field.

It's still happening, John....and it's very bizarre.

From my home PC and one of my work computers, the sites run fine (both a test DNN installation from work and my personal site). On other computers, though, it's only garble.

A co-worker has tried accessing my personal site, and gets the garble. However, one a computer that displayes the garble for the test DNN installation at work, it displays my personal site fine.

Can you give me a link to look at? Maybe I can spot something unexpected.
Also let me know what browsers are returning the garbled text.

It displays fine on the machine I'm sitting at right now which is IE 6 (6.0.2800.1106). The other computer on my desk returns garble...IE 6 (6.0.2900.2180).

Computer that it works fine on (for me) is running Windows 2000. The machine that returns garble runs Windows XP. However, other Windows 2000 computers which should have the same browser version return garble.

My personal site (www.devodog.us) is running Page Blaster. It's having the same issues when viewed on some computers.

John,

I'm trying uninstalling/reinstalling PB on my site (www.devodog.us).

One thing that I have noticed is that the lines that are supposed to be added to my web.config are NOT being added automatically.

If you uninstall you need to remove it completely by also removing the line from web.config.
If the line is commented out in web.config then the install will not uncomment them and will not add a new one because it will see it as already being there.

Also remove Snapsis.PageBlaster.config from the root folder to completely uninstall.

John,

It almost looks like I needed to install twice to get the lines in the web.config.

I'm wondering if there's a glitch in the install of the latest version?

I won't be able to do much testing until after next week...but I'll post my results.

Now that you mention it, I think I ran into something similar with the latest install.
I'll also do some testing to see if I can isolate it.

John,

It looks like installing PageBlaster twice did the trick.

Thanks for following up Mike.
I think I have found where the problem is in the install.
