Hi John,
We have the professional version of page blaster installed on our website. It has been running slow for the last couple of weeks, and I have been running the web page speed test from this site: http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze to test our website. Yesterday when I ran it it said that our website was 397,402 bytes. Today I went into admin > page blaster and clicked the "delete cache" - it erased over 11 mb of files. I ran the speed test again and our site is way faster now and our site is only 132,573 bytes. I am wondering if I have my "cache settings" set up incorrectly. Or am I supposed to go in and delete the cache every once in a while? I have attached a screenshot of our settings. Thanks!

Hi Steph,
No, you shouldn't have to manually clear the cache.

One thing to keep in mind when using an external service to check your site is that you will want to run it twice to make sure that it has cached and optimized pages for itself (since the service is usually a unique type of browser ). This way you'll get a true measure of everything that PageBlaster is doing. That is interesting that it measured a different overall Page size though as compression should happen on the first hit from any browser.

Did you also restart your application when you cleared the cache? Deleting that many files may have caused an automatic restart which may speed up your site for single pages because of other congestion (like a schedule background task, etc.). I have my app set to recycle every 12 hours just to make sure that nothing is building up in the background that may slow it down.

Let me know the next time before you clear it, and I'll take a look at before and after.
