I looked through the forums but didn't find this problem mentioned.

I just installed PageBlaster 2.0 on a site currently under development. We are accessing it using a hostname set in our hosts file (windows xp). I am not sure if that is relevant but thought I would mention it.

Anyway, I tried to create a Virtual Path alias for a page: "/Test/Test.aspx" as per the example. It doesn't work (I see a 404). A Virtual Path with just the page name (Test.aspx) works as expected.

I love the module and would like to get  the virtual path mystery solved. Can anyone let me know what I am doing wrong?

Also, is it possible to use the page-specific settings to create more than one virtual path for a page?

I am going to hand over control of these settings to a client and would like them to just use the web interface and never have to edit the config file.

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott,

Thanks for purchasing.
I'll need to re-test the virtual folders part in the path and get back to you. You might try switching the PageBlaster module order in web.config so that it comes after the UrlRewrite Module and see if that helps. I know that worked when I first created the module, but something may have changed since then. Another work-around is to use a dash, + sign or even spaces to seperate your keywords instead of a slash.

Having two different virtual page names pointing to the same content is not a good practice as the search engines will penalize that practice.
But if you really want it, you can open the ResourceLocationTable.config file located in /dekstopmodules/snapsis/PageBlaster/Config folder and add another node that points to the same tab. Not a good solution based on your last comment, but I specifically insure that only one virtual page name per tab is allowed through the UI to make sure that pages are not inadvertantly duplicated.

Hi Scott,

I have a newer version that I tested and this feature works with the virtual keyword folders.
Send me an e-mail by responding to this notification directly or from my profile and I'll send the latest version to you.

Hi--

I just purchased PageBlaster 2.1.2 from Snowcovered, and am experiencing exactly the same problem as described in this post. Any help?

Hi Jason,

Thanks for purchasing.

I don't think this was ever fully resolved, as I could not reproduce it.

Can you tell me anymore about your setup? Are you on a straight IIS website, or using a virtual directory?

Our installation is on a VPS at WebHost4Life. The VPS is running Windows Server 2003, I presume with the latest version of IIS. I have control panel access to most IIS properties, and they seem to be in order.

We are set up on a virtual directory.

Also, I tried moving the PageBlaster HTTP Module def below UrlRewrite, but that seemed to have no effect.

If you contact me directly, I'd be happy to give you host access to my installation to troubleshoot.
