Hi John

Since installing Snapsis.Pageblaster my site has started behaving strangely and my log viewer is filled with pages of host alerts and errors:

PageBlaster-DNNFilterProvider: Operation could destabilize the runtime. at Snapsis.DNN.PageBlaster.DNNFilterProvider.ReplaceUserInfo(String sourceText) at Snapsis.DNN.PageBlaster.DNNFilterProvider.ReplaceDNNInfo(String sourceText) at Snapsis.DNN.PageBlaster.DNNFilterProvider.Write(String inputHtml)

Peppered with Page Load Exceptions:

Message: DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. --->

Mixed with General Exceptions:

Message: System.Exception: Unhandled Error: ---> System.Web.HttpException:

I have not yet created any Rules, I am wondering if I have installed it correctly. .

This is what I have done

Before installing I removed the Free Snapsis.Pageblaster and the friendly URL HrefExchanger as I was concerned that they might conflict and cause problems.

Then:

1. Installed module:  Host > Module Definitions > Install New Module.

2.  Uploaded Snapsis.PageBlaster.config file to site root

3.  Edited web.config file:   Add the following line as the *first* entry in the "httpModules" section
add name="PageBlaster" type="Snapsis.HttpModules.PageBlaster.PageBlasterModule, Snapsis.HttpModules.PageBlaster"

4. Commented out the following line from web.config:
add name="Compression" type="DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Compression.HttpModule, DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Compression"

5. Uploaded edited web.config file to site root.

What have I done wrong?

Thanks

Lynn

Hi Lynn,
You have done everything correctly. That message appears to be a problem with Medium Trust which is a tighter security protocol that some hosting companies use.

I may need to work with you more closely to see if we can work around the issue, but all that it should effect is the use of the built-in DNN replacements and the cached-roles/cached-users.

I'll send you an e-mail so we can figure out the best way to proceed.

Oh, and the Inventua HrefExchanger will work with PageBlaster as long as it comes after the PageBlaster in your HttpModules list.

Hi John

I have just re-installed Inventua HrefExchanger and as instructed I put it below PageBlaster in my web.config HttpModule list. In my site, I created a new page using IE (FF still has a postback problem) but the URL was not friendly. How can I ensure global friendly url's.

Thanks

Lynn

Hi John

As mentioned I re installed Inventua HrefExchanger but it did not create friendly URL's. However, the pages I had previously created with Ventrain (friendly url) still displayed as friendly urls.

As suggested, I removed Pageblaster and re-tested, but the result was the same.

I replaced Inventua with Ventrain and the result was the same, I also removed Pageblaster and re-tested....no change.

At the moment some of my pages are user friendly and some are not. What do you suggest?

Lynn

Hmm, I'm at a loss. If you have removed PageBlaster and it still doesn't work then it must not be a caching issue.

Those modules are supposed to make friendly urls dynamically so I don't understand how some could be friendly and some not.

Hi John

Friendly URL's back. I had not re-enabled the "friendly url" checkbox in the host settings.
Dhoo!!
Thanks
