Hi John,

I saw a link for PageBlaster in the DNN forums where someone was trying to use the ASP.NET OutputCache directive.

Does Pageblaster support the concepts of varybycustom and varybyparams ?

Basically, my DNN application uses some query params to drive the page content, along with a special security token stored in a cache/cookie.

Can I get PageBlaster to cache different page versions based upon query params, or a custom setting ?

Thanks, Jim

Hi Jim,
Yes, it automatically simulates varybyparams="*". The complete url is used to derive the key.
It also adds Language from the request header to the key if that is configured.

Currently, cookie variables are not supported, but I could look into that.

Wow - that is great on the params. I just need to figure out how to incorporate my custom security setting.

I have this setting stored in session and it is made available to me in the HTTP Header as well.

So I guess the best thing to include would be support for specifying headers.

Since you have support for the language header already, can support be added for a user specified header variable ?

Thanks, Jim

Oh forget to add, since all my users are authenticated, does that imply that each user gets their own set of cached content.

The documentation implies that enabling * for Cached Users would create copies per user.

Thanks for explaining the details.

p.s. Can you enable page numbers on the documentation ?

Yes, you can cache by user or role also, but only with the DNN version (it needs the DNN user provider).

I'll look into allowing custom variables (header, session, cookie, etc. ) to be added to the key.

Good idea on the page numbers for the docs. That one slipped by.
