Hi John,

I am currently beta testing my website and I sincerely believe PageBlaster is already playing a fantastic role with the speed improvement. However, I have a video module that just don't want to work with PageBlaster. I've excluded the page from caching, etc but still have a javascript error on the page. The link to the video player is below. I know this uses AJAX. While on the site could please also help me figure out why the Chat is not working...Also uses Ajax.

Hi,

I replied to your e-mail last night, but I guess you didn't get it, probably because I had a zip attachment.

What you need is to exclude the .asxh extension.

I have attached the most recent free version of PageBlaster to this post which has a config file in that excludes that extension.

Attachment: Snapsis.HttpModules.PageBlaster.zip

Thanks John for the speedy reply. I did not get the reply last night. I am using the latest version of PageBlaster which has that .asxh extension excluded. Below, please find the line in the config file that has the exclude

I am not sure what happened, but the line was remove from my last post

path pattern="(\.asmx|\.axd|\.ashx|rss|fck|admin|install|thumb|wizard|cart|classifieds|TellaFriend|Chat|Blog)" excludeFrom="All"

It doesn't look like that extension is being excluded.
I noticed the UVG is also on the home page and works without errors, so I don't think it is the UVG.

The file that has an error is /DesktopModules/core.ashx
I'm not sure why a module would put that in the root of the DesktopModules folder, but you could try excluding DesktopModules
path pattern="(\.asmx|\.axd|\.ashx|rss|fck|admin|install|thumb|wizard|cart|classifieds|TellaFriend|Chat|Blog|DesktopModules)" excludeFrom="All"

I would also try to find out what is actually using those .ashx pages, they are not being used on your home page either, so maybe you can remove them.

Hi John

It is really funny how things workout sometimes. What is on the homepage is the Media Gallery, not the Video Gallery. They're two different products.
But everything is fine now for the Video Player. If you look at my post, I was actually excluding .asxh, not .ashx. I only noticed when I read you last statement of your last post

"I would also try to find out what is actually using those .ashx pages, they are not being used on your home page either, so maybe you can remove them."

However, Swirl Chat is still not working. Any thoughts on that

Oh wow, you're right and that was my typo in the original config too. Sorry about that.

I went back and changed all our references in these posts in case someone comes along later and tries a copy/paste.

For the chat, you are talking about the submit button not working on your site right?

I went to http://www.swirlhost.com/chatroom/Demo/tabid/68/Default.aspx to compare the difference.

It looks like your page has a validator somewhere that is expecting input somewhere.

Yes. If you put text in the top search box, and then click on the submit button for the chat it will work.

Thanks again, John

The Google search box was causing the problem. I took that module off from the Chat page and man, everything is now working fine. I'll now spend sometime to understand PageBlaster...

WOW

Thanks again

Hello, John,

I'm the author of ultra media gallery and ultra video gallery, both products use ajaxpro to provide ajax features.

Since I get more and more support requests with the problem of the conflicts between my products and page blaster, I would like you to write a simple instruction about how to fix it, you said to exclude ashx extention but I'm not sure how to configure it.

I'll post it in my support forum.

thank you.

The default config file has the exclusion for .ashx now, and the module itself actually excludes all POST requests, so I don't think you'll be seeing as much of a problem.

To exclude .ashx the Snapsis.PageBlaster.config file should have a line like this:

path pattern="(\.asmx|\.axd|\.ashx|rss|fck|admin|install|thumb|wizard)" excludeFrom="All"

Feel free to refer any users of UVG over here if they have determined that PageBlaster is the problem.

I had some problems with UVG and PB on one of my portals, www.midwestfilmandvideo.com. I was unable to upload any video via the Video Upload module. Uploading using the converter app (offline) worked fine. The fix is really simple. Just go to your web.config and make sure that the PB entry in the HTTP modules section is below the File upload module that UVG uses. I think it's called "bretton", or something like that.

Just helping others out if they run into the problem ech01 pointed out. In web.config for UVG, look for "neatUpload" in the http modules section. It's from Brettle. If moving NeatUpload above PB does not work, you can also comment out all instances of "neatupload" and UVG will default to the DNN upload. Neatupload, from what I understand, simply has an image display for uploading whereas DNN does not.
