John,

I am about to move my install to another host, then upgrade to the 4.5.4 release; I need to disable all compression first, correct?  How would I go about doing this if I do, in fact, need to disable compression for these two operations?  :)

No, PageBlaster does not have to be disabled to upgrade.

If you do want to disable it just to be safe though, you can do so by commenting out the PageBlaster Module line in the httpModules section of the web.config

Thanks, sir. I swear I read in more than one place that compression and/or cache should be disabled when attempting to upgrade. Could this be referencing the core compression tools and not applicable to PB?

That is correct.

If you look in the Snapsis.PageBlaster.config file at the excludePaths section you will see an pattern for install.

The install folder and page is also for upgrades.

Thanks, John.

Way off-topic, but...

I assumed it was PB that beat my source code with an ugly stick, but you code looks clean and what I am used to seeing.  Any idea why I have some ugly source? I thought it was compression related, but sites I know of running PB look normal. so it's clearly me.  ;) BidLessTravel.com

I tried to visit your site but it has an error. What you are describing sounds like a white space removal rule.

Thanks, John.  Yea, this weekend was migration weekend froom webhost4life, which was short-lived.  :)  It should be up and running fine now...and think you are correct; I do have whitespace filter on, so I guess that's the cause of the ugly source.

PS...given your 'day job,' have you ever considered a 'pick'em/confidence point' pool module?  I run a small pool for some nice jing and been searching high and low for one, but just an outdated one from 2004 has turned up thus far.  Any exist that you know of?  :)
