Not cache a specific module.

Here is my problem.

I installed page blaster fine everything is flying along.  I have 2 modules at the top that radamize content.  One randamizes a image header and the other chooses a radom scripture.

With pageblaster on as I navigate the site that image will stay the same and that scripture will stay the same when I refresh the page.

You can see the problem here: www.texasbaptistmen.org

At the very top of the page you will see links "Home News Calendar" and so on.

You can test it by clicking on news then home again.  The image and scripture on the home page will always remain the same.  Is there a work around for this?

What exactly is the difference in the config file for disk and memory? I was thinking I could lower the memory setting to like 1 min it might work but I am really shooting in the dark here.

Thank you for a great module.

One strange thing I noticed is that I was talking to my client on the phone when we discoverd this and he and I at the same time cleared our browser caches and then loaded the site. He had different images and scriptures saved on each page than I did. Why would that be. The way I understand it we should both be loading the same cached page off the server. Right? Am I missing something?
Thanks,
Jeremy

PS I also realize that by using radom content every page hit has to pull that radomly so I am not even sure that it is possible since pagblaster builds a static page.

Hi Jeremy,
Yes, what you are seeing is what the module was designed to do as far as the random parts of the page staying the same.
It is possible for two different people to see a different cached page because the pages are cached differently for each type of browser (IE, FF, Opera, etc.) and also for each language.

You could reduce your cache time, but i would not recommend going less than every 20 minutes unless you have a lot of traffic.
The disk cache is a backup to the memory cache so you would want to reduce the duration of both for that page to get it down to the desired level.

Another work-around is to display random conent like that using an ajax enabled module so that the content can actually be refreshed "inside" the page and without getting the whole page from the PageBlaster cache.

Also keep in mind that by default the pages are not cached when someone is logged in so you may want to leave the page more static for casual visitors, and then try to get them to register and login for more dynamic interaction with the site. This way you have a nice fast page for your first time vistors, and after you have captured their attention then you can deliver more personalized information.

Thank you for the pompt reply.  That is what I figured.  How do I remove page blaster?  Do I just replace the web.config with the one before I made the changes?

Thanks,

Jeremy Palmer

Yes, to remove it all together you would remove the line from the web.config file and the Snapsis.HttpModules.PageBlaster.dll from the /bin folder and the Snapsis.PageBlaster.config file from the root of the website.
