Hi, I've posted this on the DNN forums but then realized I have three licenses for PageBlaster I'm not useing yet so I thought I'd drop in and ask here as well.

I have a client that would like to advertise a perticular page on their site with a URL that looks like: www.domain.com/somepage and when the user types the url into the browser it redirects them to a specified page on the site. Can this kind of thing be done with PageBlaster?

Thanks, Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Yes, PageBlaster can do that as long as you give the page an extension like .aspx, so your example above would be www.domain.com/somepage.aspx

You do this by putting the module on the page where you want this url to go, and then setting the Virtual-Path in the configuration.

Andrew,

you can achive this even without the page extension using the DNN FriendlyUrl functionality and setting up virtual directory in IIS, read the following post for details:

This is now possible in PageBlaster 3.0 (to be released this week).

The way PageBlaster does it is to create a physical directory from the root of your site using the folder(s) you specify for a virtual path and then put a static html copy of the DNN page in it.

If you name the page Default.htm then it will be detected by IIS and delivered without even calling the ASP.Net engine.
The advantage here is that you will never get the slow startup time that can happen if ASP.Net is idle for too long.

The static copy of the page will be refreshed if update the Dynamic page in DNN, and you can always force a refresh by holding CTRL while clcicking on Refresh in Internet Explorer or SHIFT+Refresh in FireFox.
