Hi,

I was looking at DNNMasters SEO Pack, which looks cool. People talk about Pageblaster and that module as a great mix - you even sell it from this site. At SnowCovered a guy says:

"I was pleased that it works seemlessly with Pageblaster (the third-party caching module) that I use."

What does DNNMasters SEO Pack offer that you can't do in PageBlaster (other than Keep-alive and a log that tell about redirects)? Does it affect performance to have both modules running on a site?

Regards.

Hi Allan,
I have to admit that I do not know every feature that the DNNMasters SEO pack has in it. I do know that it has 301 redirects and 404 capabilites for defining a page in your portal to send users to when a page is not found on your site.

301 redirects is something that PageBlaster did not do until this new release. They also have a different way of defining/assigning some of the same functionality which some users may prefer.

DNNMasters SEO pack does not do caching, compression, or replacements to the best of my knowledge, so PageBlaster should compliment it or any other SEO module well.

The reason the DNNMasters SEO pack is offered here is because I was hearing some of the same things about them working well together, and I already had an agreement with them to do cross-promoting of our products.

I do not believe in a site keeping itself alive, and that is something that PageBlaster will not support directly, but I will soon be offering a monitoring service that will work in conjunction with PageBlaster to keep your site alive and also allow you to monitor performance as measured from remote locations.

There is new version of SEO Pack 2.0.x available now and it's bundled with DNNMasters Sitemap / Google Sitemap module.

SEO Pack is complimentary to Page Blaster and has the following features:

  • automatic URL rewrite from dnn URL to hierarchical (or optionally non-hierarchical) URL like /root-tab/sub1-tab/sub2-tab.aspx
  • allows to define any page extension (requires IIS config change)
  • redirect of IIS 404 and AspNet page not found errors to the module tab with a friendly message and preferably sitemap so users can find correct page.
  • URL redirect with any HTTP code (usualy used for 301 and 404)
  • rewrite tab name from actual tab to another name in URL
  • automatic generation of redirect rules from dnn urls to SEO urls
  • rewrite dnn links (linkClick.aspx?linkid=xx) to normal SEO urls for internal site links so they can be followed by search engines
  • rewrite all Terms and Privacy links to a single /terms.aspx and /privacy.aspx links (avoidance of duplicate content penalty from search engines)
  • multi-portal capable with global settings and per-portal settings
  • option to automatically apply global settings to all portals
  • option to overwrite settings for each portal
  • URL rewrite ON/Of
  • 301/404 redirects On/Of
  • KeepAlive On/Off
  • exclude pages from rewrite
  • three log levels (off, normal, debug)
  • all settings are now done from module

Customers that purchased the SEO Pack module on this portal should contact support {at} dnnmasters.com with proof of purchase in order to obtain latest version and the Site Map module.

Actual help file can be viewed and/or downloaded from www.dnnmasters.com and the module can be seen in action (including access to module options) on http://sandbox.dnnmasters.com
