I got pageblaster running, and have been reading through most of the posts in this forum, but still unclear how to set things up:

1. I am on GoDaddy, so I don't have the option to install DNN in the root.
The default install was mydomain/dotnetnuke/...
I wish I had changed it to mydomain/dnn/... but now it's too late :-(
Can I use virtual path and replacements to make it just mydomain/  ?
Or am I always going to start from mydomain/dotnetnuke and then the virtual path/replacements kick in after that?
If I am stuck with /dotnetnuke/ then can I at least change it to /dnn/ ?
Or is there a way to physically move all of dotnetnuke to a dnn directory?

2. I have a non-dnn website that I am converting to dnn. Until it's done, I don't want to change
the DNS to point to the new one. I created a new parent portal, but when I put the domain in the http alias
I get redirected to the old one, and I can't work on the DNN. Can Pageblaster help me with that?

3. Are the Friendly URLs that DNN serves bad for SEO? I thought the main objection was the question marks?
Will Google be happier if my pages are mydomain/home.aspx , mydomain/contactus.aspx, etc?
It seems I can do this with PageBlaster, but it's quite a bit of work ...
As I understand it, I will have to set up virtual paths for each page i.e. mydomain/home.aspx so people can get to them and
replacement rules that will change all non-friendly references tin the pages to mydomain/home.aspx

I have seen some posts related to these questions, but they all assumed knowledge I don't have.
My requirements (so far) are pretty simple, but I will have more than one portal running off of
one dnn instance, and I am not sure how the rules will change depending on whether I am on the
first portal or not.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Alex,

If your DNN install is in a virtual directory then you will have to use the virtual folder to access your site. This is controlled at the webserver before it gets to your application or PageBlaster.  I do no that some people have tutorials on moving your DNN install to the root of a Godaddy host if that is what you want to do.
Try Ismet's Tutorials on moving DNN to GoDaddy Root

For the second problem, you probably just need to restart the DNN application.

For #3, the urls that DNN creates are not really bad for Search Engines, but they are not very "Human Friendly".
In the latest version of DNN you can turn on HumanFriendly Urls though.
PageBlaster can be used to automatically make the Urls that are generated by your website and shown in your page output more friendly using Replacement Rules. You  can see a lot of those examples in the thread pinned in this forum.

As you have determined, the virual path in PageBlaster is more for specific tabs that you would really like to customize the Url on. PageBlaster was not created to be a UrlRewriter.
