So I tried editing the Cache rules to cache my article pages in News Articles as well by adding articleId as one of the querystring keys. However, comments in news articles are done in a manner that doesn't cause a postback, is there any way to still cache it, but to have the comments update?

The cache only gets cleared for a post-back or expiration, or a manual hard refresh right now. I could probably add a command that would clear the cache based on a conditional rule using the Request object though. Is there something in the querystring that indicates that a new comment was just added?

Nope, the URL is the exact same....you go to a post comments page that has the same article id, but then it just goes back to the orig page with no difference.

I just went and looked, and I think it should be getting cleared. When someone is on the comments page it posts-back to the same tab and articleid that the cached page would be in. Look in your PageBlaster cache-folder and find the tabid/54 folder. If you have also added ArticleId as an additional cache-key parameter then that folder should have an articleid folder and then each article under that. If you click to go to a specific article you should see a cache file in that folder, and when you post a comment it should get updated.

John, First of all the cache isn't clearing itself... secondly I have the following inside my /Snapsis/PageBlaster/Cache folder /articleId/ - THis nests down and has folders for each article id, then articletype, then the files /css /default /desktopmodules /forumid /keepalive /postid/ scriptresource /tabid /webresource under tabid/54 there are no folders

it is very possible that my settings are incorrect. I'm also noticing that my disk cache time is not saving, it keeps reverting to 00 days. EDIT: after looking at the config file the disk cache setting is correct...it just doesn't display

The global config (Snapsis.PageBlaster.config in the site root) file is never changed by the Config UI. Individual Portal and Page Settings are saved with the Replacement Rules in the /DesktopModules/Snapsis/PageBlaster/Config /PageRules and /PortalRules folders. This way, if you have a module on a specific page you can override the Portal Level and Global settings. The articleid folder would be seperate and not under the root if you put that in as the only page parameter. You can put both in that field to make it tabid;articleid If you add more querysting parameters you probably want to do that in a Page Level setting so that PageBlaster is only looking for that parameter when it is caching the Aticles page.

I just tried a couple of comments to your articles and I do see that it seems to be getting a previously cached page. I'll try replicating this in my dev environment to make sure it is working like I expect.

As it turns out, there was a bug keeping the cache from being cleared. I have attached an updated DLL to this post that corrects it. I'll be testing this out on my site as well and release an update after I make sure things are still working as expected. Sorry for the confusion.

Hi Mitchel, The new version 3.2 corrects this problem with comments on the articles. You can get it by going back to your previous order and downloading again.
