I posted it just a little while ago. You can go back to your previous order here on Snapsis.com and get the new version.

Hi,

I've got it installed and it looks like it's creating the .htm file now. But if you will look at the page, it's not quite working with SOLPART Menu very well.

Here is the orginal page: http://www.ops.org/district
Heris the htm page: http:?/www.ops.org/district/home.htm

Is this pageblaster or something i've got configured incorrectly?

Thanks,

Looks like Solpart doesn't like the User Agent I used to create the page. I could try with another User Agent, but I think you have found a problem that might make it undesirable to have a static page using Solpart.

I know that Solpart and the new NavMenu in DNN render the menu differently depending on the browser, so making it static is going to have issues like this.

Have you had good results with NavSuite from DNN360.net when trying to create a static page?

I have never tried it, but you can try it by going to a page that has it, and saving it to your local drive, then open with a different browser.

I do know for sure that my CSS Menu does not render anything different for different browsers. :)

Before I do any major switching of the SolPart Menu, can we try switching your user agent? Would that possible?

Yes, I'll switch it to act like a FireFox browser. The reason being that I know if a page with Solpart gets cached with IE, that it will fail in FireFox, but I'm pretty sure IE still displays one that is cached for FireFox.

Give me a few minutes to make that change and I'll attach it here.

Ok, try placing the attached DLL in your /bin folder.

Then uncheck the Save As Static file, Save Config, Recheck Save as Static File, and Save the config again.

Unchecking and saving deletes the current static file.

It looks a little better and now I don't get the 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object' error when saving the config. It looks like if I want to use this function I may have to swap out the SOLPART Menu.

UPDATE:  When I update the global config I do get that error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Look in the DNN Event/Log Viewer to see what the rest of the error is and paste it here please.

Hi,

In testing the static function...I found that I can't goto another page and try to create another static htm. And I've also noticed that when I update the page, in this case the Home Page, the static HTM doesn't reflect the changes. I've tried unchecking then updating config, then checking again for the static file to be created and then save config, and the CTRL+F5 to clear the cache but the HTM will not reflect the latest changes.

Okay...Sorry to trouble you with this...I don't know if I'm doing this wrong or not, but I've found out that if I delete the PB Module for the page and delete the htm file from the site and then readd the module to the page and setup the static.htm again, it updates the static file and displays correctly. Is this how you supposed to do this?

The Static File option is just like if you took the page and saved it as a file to your hard drive. It's probably not the best option to use if you plan on the page needing to be updated very frequently.

The reason I don't make it update automatically is because there is a potential for another portal in the same install to specify the same static page and overwrite one that was there before them. Plus, if you want it to update automatically on an interval then just using the dynamic page caching of PageBlaster will do that.

Are you still getting the object reference error when you click on save in the PageBlaster config screen? If so, that may be why it is not deleting the static file when you uncheck the option.

Another good time to use this feature is if you had a promotion and you wanted to use a real simple url like

mydomain.com/MarchMadness

By creating a new page anywhere in your portal and then specifying /MarchMadness/Default.htm as the static file, you can be sure that your advertising has an easy Url to use, plus when people type it in they'll get a fast static html page.

Thanks for the explanation...that really helps....and I only get the Object Reference error when I'm using the Page Blaster Page under Admin. When I uncheck the static file on the page where I dropped the PB module. I don't get an error, but it also doesn't delete the static file that was created.
