I was using PB 2.2.4 with no problems and decided to try the lastest version with a view to buying the full product.

I installed the module as instructed without problems. I then went to enter the licence key. This was the community edition.

When I clicked save after entering the key I got an 'object reference not set to..' in red at the top of the pb admin panel. I tried an IP address instead and got the same error.

I gave up and logged out. Blammo!!  All my domains pointing at the DNN build (4.8.0) fell over with a runtime error.

I had to ftp my server and strip out the PB lines from web.config before I could get my sites back up.

Any clues?

Angus

Were you using the free version of 2.2.4?

Can you attach your Snapsis.PageBlaster.config file from the root of your site after renaming it to .txt?

Also if you can find any errors in the DNN Event Viewer that will help.

Yes, I was using the free version of 2.2.4 and then went to the free version of 3.2.0.

I have attached the config and a general exception error.

The config looks ok, and the error does not appear to be generated by PageBlaster.

Could you give it another try?  You should just have to re-enable it in the web.config

Before you re-enable, go into the DesktopModules/Snapsis/PageBlaster folder and if there is a PageBlaster.lic file, delete it.

If you get the crash again after you re-enable, then you can comment it back out of web.config and see if there is an error in the Event Viewer in the same timeframe.

I tried again.. this is the error I get when I try to save the licence key.

PageBlaster-DNNModuleControl: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at Snapsis.DNN.PageBlaster.PageBlasterConfig.save_Click()
Server Name: 108785-108785

I have some domains working and some not.

I had to comment PB out again.  Most domains fail to load after browsing them for a while.

Just in case you can spot anything odd I've attached my web.config.  This is a DNN instance that's been upgraded since 4.1.0.

I have lots of modules installed, including the keywording one from xpidea. I have Scott's friendly urls but its disabled.

Ok, I have the web.config, but i removed it from your post since it has sensitive information.

If you can give me access to your environment, I may be able to track down the issue.
Or we can try to do some isolation through here.

The first thing we need to do is turn on trace logging for PageBlaster.
That is done in the Snapsis.PageBlaster.config file by changing the < trace Level="Debug"

oops.. yes it was getting late.. thanks
I enabled tracing and uncommented the lines in web.config again and got an immediate server error in '/', so reinstated the old web.config.

I couldn't find any log files for pageblaster.

I'd be happy to let you drill down on my server. It would help if you could do it when my users are asleep. I have many domains on this dnn.
I'm GMT+1, but my server is about 7 hours behind in US. Which zone are you in?
You can email me direct to angusbeare@gmail.com for login details.

thanks

John,

I recently installed 3.2.0 and get the same error. Here is an event log entry from my dnn install.

PageBlaster-DNNModuleControl: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at Snapsis.DNN.PageBlaster.PageBlasterConfig.save_Click()
Server Name: W2K3-WEB37

Disregard the last post. I upgraded to 3.2.1 and it seemed to clear up my issue.

Thanks,
RW

I tried 3.2.1 and still get the error.

It brings my portals down instantly I uncomment the lines in web.config.
