Does the order of the exludePaths path nodes matter? What will take precedence?

Yes, they are executed in order so you want to put the most likely patterns first.
The first one that matches will stop the checking of the rest.

Wow! That explains A LOT! Thanks for clearing that up. Perhaps an XML comment in that file would be handy there for future releases to make that clear. For those who do not want to see it, it is easily and quickly deleted.
